For A Better San Bernardino

Focusing on the betterment of our community.

STORY
Over 30 years ago, I immigrated to the US from Mexico. I got married and started a family in my early 20s. My wife and I moved to San Bernardino, where we raised our children. They attended our local public schools and graduated from our local university.  Today, I am a single parent and proud to have raised children who have become productive citizens. We've lived in the same house all these years and it's where my story continues to unfold.

During this time, I have worked as a carpenter, framer, plumber, and roofer, gaining valuable experience along the way and fosting friendships with amzaing people. Today, I work as a project manager with the Housing Authority.

My community leadership experience includes serving as Building Commissioner and Executive Board Member-Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. I’ve also volunteered with many community organizations and groups such as Rotary, We Are The Chagetime and SB Food Fest.

I am proud of my service to my community and I believe my city needs me now. I know times are tough these days. However, I am confident I can work with anyone and I truly believe our best days are ahead.

Leadership

Work in a respectful and professional manner with our mayor and all city council members to move our city in the right direction. Bring respect and dignity back to our community by focusing on policies that demonstrate our understanding of our local economy and what we can do to improve it.

Affordability

Work to provide additional affordable housing options. Adopt policies that allow for more ADU development throughout our city. Work to adopt policies that allow for greater employment options throughout our city. Work to adopt policies that support our small business community.

Quality of Life

Work to improve our parks and open spaces by providing support to the homeless population. Work to develop a community beautification program that focuses on a cleaner community and accountability. Continue community-based clean-up efforts throughout the city.

Environment

Work to adopt policies that protect and improve our natural resources throughout the city. Protect our water resources by funding maintenance and improvement projects. Expand our urban forest by planting trees throughout the city that do not destroy our infrastructure.

I truly believe in the Power of WE. I worked with a number of San Bernardino residents to create WE ARE THE CHANGE; a community-based group focused on cleaning up our city and beautifying our community.

Service to Community

As member of a local Rotary Service Club, I volunteer with RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards, a leadership development program for young people, typically aged 14-30, sponsored by Rotary clubs and districts. It aims to provide leadership training and experiences for selected youth, helping them develop skills like communication, problem-solving, and ethical leadership. RYLA events vary in format, including seminars, retreats, and camps, and often involve presentations, activities, and workshops.

One of my passions is supporting our vulnerable populations. I work with staff at the San Bernardino Community Hospital, Dignity Health, Post-Acute Center and host a Christmas Pajama Drive for children who are born with severe health conditions. I work with the medical staff to give these children gifts during the Christmas season.
